Paradisiacal Engagement Session in Santorini, Greece: Abby + Tiger by Galanopoulos photography

Love is the most powerful motivator in the world. It spurs mortals to greatness. Their noblest and bravest acts are done for love -” the Goddess Aphrodite.

It was springtime in Santorini, Greece, the last stop on the couple’s three country vacation. Abby had done some research before their arrival and fell in love with the picturesque views of the ancient island. “I decided to plan a photoshoot while we were in Santorini. I could just imagine both Tiger and I wearing white, while leaning up against the spotless white cathedrals with the amazing blue domes,” she shares.

White clouds danced amongst the powder blue sky as the sun beamed flawlessly on the island; the scene could not have been more perfect. Tiger’s nerves were transparent the day of the photo shoot, but Abby guessed it was his reluctancy to be in front of the camera. During the shoot, the photographer was telling Abby how he wanted her to pose and as she tried to hold her position she turned to see her love down on one knee with a stunning heart-shaped diamond ring. In complete shock, Abby felt as if the world had stopped and for a second she couldn’t hear a sound. “I do remember that he said, ‘my heart belongs to you forever,'” she shares.

What began as a photo-op in Santorini turned into a proposal designed by the Gods.  Coterie member Events with Darrell coordinated this sublime engagement session in Santorini. Take a look at the images by the amazing Grecian photographer, Giorgos Galanopoulos of Galanopoulos Photography. www.galanopoulos.net

Bride-to-be: Abby
Groom-to-be: Tiger
Wedding location: Lagos, Nigeria

What did you do on your first date?
Tiger and I were friends for over eight years before we actually started dating, so we had been out several times before. However, our first official date Tiger flew into Houston from Dallas. I knew he had never been to a basketball game, so I wanted to surprise him with a trip to a game. As soon as I picked him up from the airport we headed straight to a Houston Rockets game, and had a wonderful time. I had surprise dates planned for us the entire weekend.

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We both enjoy shopping together. We appreciate each other’s sense of style so we tend to go shopping together a lot.

How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning is fun! We are still working out the kinks and details. I must admit I am enjoying every moment of it. When things are getting a bit overwhelming, Tiger is always there to remind me that what’s most important is our marriage and not the wedding.

Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
With my family spread all across the world, I’m looking forward to everyone being under one roof again having the most amazing time.

Congratulations to Abby and Tiger! This Grecian engagement session was breathtaking and we can only imagine how stunning the wedding is going to be.

Photo retouching techniques on wedding images ( cropping , Lyquify and dodge and burn)

The reason I dint touch this image from the beginning was the ugly air condition on the back of the bride, recently after serious thinking  I decide to remove it  , was tough because after removing it a very small  space left for clone stamping,  however they area was covered by a hard shadow  which help me lot.

First I crop the image by the rule of thirds, that give me a nice 1/3 horizon above the bride, the air condition was next, after carefully selecting they area around it,  I pick  a small clone stamp brush and  paint all over it and  slowly  start disappearing.

Next I make the bride a bit more sexy with the magical liquify Photoshop tool , the Liquify Tool is one of the most powerful image editing tools in Photoshop. It will allow you to “push and pull” pixels any way you’d like. It is a common misconception that the Liquify Tool is only used for making people thin.

Continue with some basic color corrections and with a fine brush, I dodge and burn the entire image, dodging and burning are terms used in photography for a technique used during the printing process to manipulate the exposure of a selected area(s) on a photographic print, deviating from the rest of the image’s exposure.

Finally I remove five more ugly details from the original image, so I challenge you here to practice by spotting the differences between the two images.

Wedding Photography Technique

The Idea, The Execution, The Shot.
The orthodox ceremony performed at Panagia Church located at the top of a mountain about 40 min walking , caring all the equipment and taking pictures a t the same it was a challenge however the magnificent scenery reward us with a magical sunset.

I shot the above photo during the couple first dance, my equipment was a Canon 5d mark III with a canon 24-105 zoom lens and off camera canon 580exII flash with a beauty dish on.
I notice the bride shiny eye looking at the groom and I know this was the moment, I check if my lighting assistant was in the right place change my camera to high speed continues shooting and manage to take series of 8 images us the bride was ripping of his shirt.

Without even think about it I instantly change the image to black and white, a little retouching dodge and burn with photoshop and the image was ready for the couple, definitely the best reward was when they call me a couple months later and they say that cry looking at the photos, , moments like this make you think that this is the best job in the world.
